Your Cycle Mechanic Heads to Europe It’s a tough gig but someone has to do it! This August / September Your Cycle Mechanic will head to Europe to provide rider and mechanic support to Chapeau Cycling Tours. Joanne Arancibia (my wife) is the brain child behind Chapeau Cycling Tours. A nationally accredited Tour Operator company established in 2017 to provide small group cycling tours to Europe. Joanne and I have been travelling to Europe since 2015 and have been fortunate to experience, on two wheels, so much of what Europe has to offer. One of my fondest memories is riding Mount Ventoux on all 3 sides in 3 days! Chapeau Cycling Tours was born out of a desire to help others experience the magic of Europe - the food, culture, history, scenery - and at the same time tick off some famous riding routes and climbs that you’ve dreamt of since watching your first Tour De France. The term ‘Chapeau’ itself is a French terms for “hats off” and used in cycling to indicate respect for another’s achievement. There is nothing more rewarding than sitting at the dinner table after conquering one of your bucket list climbs, and enjoying an ice cold aperol spritz as you share the days achievement with those around you. Chapeau Cycling Tours caps their groups at 10 riders to ensure a high level of personal attention. Riding routes are carefully crafted for the riders enjoyment and for their peace of mind a support vehicle accompanies all rides (that’s one of my duties). While Jo is hosting the guests I am responsible for taking up the role of the soigneurs – running biddons, food, clothing, photography and mechanical support from a van. This August is their inaugural tour and we’re taking 6 amazing people to experience the Famous Italian Lakes (Lake Como, Lugano and Maggiore) before scooting over the boarder to ride the majestic mountain in the French Alps. Our guests are in for a real treat as they’ll get to experience these famous climbs; Alp d’Huez Col du Glandon Col de la Croix de Fer Telegraph & Col du Galibier Col du lautaret Col du Sarenne Dreaming of Europe? Why not follow our adventures at @chapeaucyclingtours, and if we whet your appetite enough consider joining us for a holiday in 2020.
